Biography:

At Avalon we specialize in the English style light colored golden retriever of conformation quality as well as the light blonde American look.  But our intention in breeding is to produce a dog with not only superior looks but with the gentle, loving nature that will make our puppies the ultimate family and companion dog.

We prefer homes where the puppy will be an integral part of the family, as our goldens are part of our family.  Our puppies remain in home with us for the eight weeks in which they are entrusted to our care.  They are born in this family environment and know nothing else.  They are used to us, our children, our grandchildren, our lovely ragdoll cat family, Bubbles and Zuey, and our remarkable family of European coton de tulears, Pepe, Jolie, and little Miki.

This constant socialization process, both natural and planned, helps your puppy develop into the fine companion dog it was meant to be....from our home to yours....from our loving hands to your hands.

Standards:

We do hip, heart and eye clearances.  A well-rounded pet is the product of our specialized socialization program.

Every pup is handled from birth, each is hand-fed on occasion to bond to human touch from early on.  Each is whelped in a room off our kitchen (Except for Goldie, who prefers our daughter's bed).  They are exposed to all the sounds and happenings of a home environment. For example, washer, dryer, vacuum noise, kids, other dogs and cats, adults, young adults, children, and babies.  Puppy temperament testing is done for us by an experienced trainer, at six-seven weeks to better match you and your home to your 'new addition'.  Each puppy is vet checked, and given a health certificate.  Pups receive 1'st puppy shots, and are wormed 2-3 times.  Also, all our Puppies will be micro chipped.

Potty training begins at 4-5 weeks, and crate training at six weeks.  You will be given a complete puppy packet, and a one-year genetic health contract.

We do the best we can to give your new puppy the best start in life that is possible.

we maintain homes just outside of Baltimore, MD and our farm is in New York.  Although most puppies will be born in New York now, puppies can be available at either location.
